It's time to think about spending more time in Northern Arizona as the weather warms up! Shows and events are moving to the high country for some fun in the pines during the summer. Some exciting options are listed below.

We'll have a booth at the Northern Arizona EquiFest on the Prescott Rodeo Grounds during Saturday, June 6th with copies of our 2009 Arizona Guide. We're already working on the 2010 edition to make it even bigger and better, so watch for the launch of a new version of our website in June, along with some great opportunities to make your horse-related business stand out from the herd. The LUV Shack Challenge on Saturday, May 16th!

Modeled after the Mustang Smackdown, this event is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Well-known and respected local trainers were selected: Darrah Walters, Steve Sikora, James Monroe, Mike Stacy, Brian Bausch, Jenniver Cignoni, Larry Nelles, Michelle McVey and Erin Smith. Each trainer has donated 90 days of their time, talent and experience to train one of the LUV Shack Ranch rescued horses.

On Saturday, May 16th, they will showcase their results in an exhibition. For more details of this wonderful event, please visit the LUV Shack Ranch Horse Rescue website. Gymkhana and Benefit Show for two Non-Profit Animal Sanctuaries

Arizona Saddle Club and Five - M Ranch present a Gymkahana and Benefit Show to support Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary and Hacienda de los Milagros Lifetime Sanctuary on Saturday, August 8th and Sunday, August 9th. The event will take place at Five - M Ranch at 764 W. Road 1 South in Chino Valley. Included will be Family Fun, a 50/50 Raffle, Jackpot Barrels & Poles, Catered BBQ Dinner, Silent Auction and Live Music.

Grass Pastures Need Help!

A balance of Water, Fertilizer ... and AIR are key to good root growth of your grass. Compaction stresses the plants because air and water are "squeezed" from the soil. Biological and chemical activities that depend on air and water become severely restricted. With our mineral rich irrigation water, when the soil gets compacted, all minerals settle into the top-soil which causes too much of an increase in PH. When the PH is too high, your grass cannot absorb fertilizer, so it is wasted.

How do we improve the balance within our grass wihout ripping and disking to dirt? By performing pasture renovation and/or pasture aeration! Pasture Renovation and Pasture Aeration will cut through the hard-pan and shatter all compaction in your soil so that the compaction is removed without losing your grass!

Trail Ride Benefit for St. Judes Hospital on May 16th

The trail ride benefit for the children at St. Judes Hospital will be hosted by HorseBreakers Unlimited, LLC, and will be held at the YMCA camp (Old Chauncey Ranch, Mayer, AZ) on Saturday, May 16th at 9:30 am. The ride is free but you are asked to bring donations for the children. Bring your horse, bring your friends and bring your lunch! Rockie needs some time to swim during the dog days of summer, so don't forget that Tack Solutions by Leslie will be closed on both Sunday and Monday during June, July and August.
